Chapels, Libraries, and Community Centers in Victory Hills – Albuquerque, NM

Victory Hills has a number of chapels, libraries, and community centers we’ll discuss in this short post. First, a quick introduction to the area.

Garfield Gospel Chapel

The Christian fellowship at Garfield Gospel Chapel is a local evangelical church that is both self-supporting and self-governing. It has no denominational affiliation, but it maintains contact with hundreds of similar groups throughout the world.

The basis of our fellowship is a common personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. We accept the Bible as having authority over us as individuals and as an assembly. It is all-sufficient to make known God’s plan for our salvation and shape our lives.

Our meetings, government, and principles of behavior are a conscious effort to apply Scripture as we believe it was applied in the early days of the New Testament Church.

Ernie Pyle Public Library

The Ernie Pyle Library is a small white house with a white picket fence in the residential neighborhood at 900 Girard SE. It is located halfway between Central Avenue & Gibson Blvd at the corner of Santa Monica Street and Girard SE.

The Ernie Pyle Library is not ADA accessible because the historic building and grounds include steps, narrow passages, and small spaces. The building was Ernie and ‘Jerry’ Pyle’s 1,129 square foot home built in 1940. It is a National Historic Landmark and it is on the State, City, and National registers of historic places. The closest ADA accessible Libraries include San Pedro Library, South Broadway Library, and Erna Fergusson Library.

Loma Linda Community Center

The Loma Linda Community Center houses the administrative offices for the Therapeutic Recreation Program. The Program provides fully inclusive programs for youth and adults with and without disabilities at many sites throughout the city of Albuquerque.
